Hosted SIP

If you’re looking for an all-inclusive solution to your business telephony, SIP trunking is a great tool to achieve it.  SIP trunking is a method of deploying VoIP and delivers unified communications to customers with a SIP-enabled PBX. This requires having a PBX hardware solution on site, which can typically handle hundreds of phone calls and deliver economies of scale to large businesses.

SIP trunking requires an initial capital outlay for the PBX hardware and so may not be suitable for businesses with less than 25 phones. Call management, voicemail, auto attendants and other services are provided by the cloud network and directed to your PBX which delivers the calls to each extension.

If you don’t want the capital outlay of a SIP trunking system, you can still benefit from VOIP using a hosted IP PBX.

What is SIP?

SIP stands for Session Initiated Protocol and is the direct link between your business premises and the public telephone network. Without the unreliability of ISDN lines, hosted SIP gives you full call flow options in the event of a disaster such as exchange outages, floods, power cuts etc.

As well as voice calls, SIP can be used for instant messages, video conferencing and user presence information.

Hosted SIP combines many of the features of hosted IP and allows you to benefit from features such as auto attendant, hung groups and call recording.
